| I was somewhat sceptical that the famous Nagarkot sunrise would in fact be one of those perfect moments in time/ "must see experiences" in Nepal that I was told it would be. Located 32km from Kathmandu and elevated over 2000 meters above sea level the view from this isolated package of lodges, overlooking the Himalayan mountains was in fact well worth the time and expense. The lodge I was in was rather spartan in décor but had full amenities including a gas heater for the cold nights of January. As it was mid January, the lodge was deserted except for one other guest from England. I feel fortunate for the company as it was one of the rare times in my travel to Nepal that I welcomed sharing this unique moment in time. |

The night heavens above Nagarkot explode in starlight.

| An unexpected experience was the night sky which on the eve of my "Nagorkot sunrise" exploded in more starlight than I have personally ever witnessed. It was a moonless night and for a moment I truly believed that I would be able to terrestrially navigate the wilderness around me by star light alone. |
