| Swayambhunah (the Monkey Temple) is one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the wolrd. It sit's atop a hill overlooking the city of Kathmandu, Nepal and on a clear day you can see most of the valley. It is a place of pilgrimage, tourism, commerce and accomodation. The monkeys that live in the areas of the temple site are said to be born of lice that grew from the hair of Manjushree, the bodhisattva of wisdom and learning. |
